Former Smashing Pumpkins bassist D'Arcy Wretzky will face charges of drug possession in a Chicago court on Monday. The 31-year-old musician, who left the Pumpkins in September, was arrested with an unspecified drug about 2:30 a.m. on January 25 on West Lake Street in Chicago, according to Patti Simone, a spokesperson for the Cook County State's Attorney's Office. No information is available on the type of drug D'Arcy is alleged to have possessed, Simone said. "That will come out when she appears in court," she said. An 11th District Chicago Police officer, who requested anonymity, said that, to protect suspects' rights, police do not release details of arrests, even to suspects' family members. A lawyer for Wretzky could not be reached by press time. Wretzky formed the Pumpkins with bandleader Billy Corgan in 1989 and played on all of the Smashing Pumpkins' albums, including their forthcoming "Machina/The Machines Of God" featuring the
single "The Everlasting Gaze."She reportedly left the group to pursue acting. She'll play a hit woman in the upcoming Mickey Rourke movie "Peaces Of Ronnie" (see "Former Pumpkin D'Arcy Goes Hollywood"). Ex-Hole member Melissa Auf Der Maur has replaced D'Arcy as a touring bassist.
