Sloan To Offer U.S. "Second Hand Views" On Tour

Canadian power-pop quartet Sloan has put together its first-ever video compilation, "Second Hand Views," and the guys will be offering it up initially to fans in America.

According to Sloan's management, the band, intending to give fans south of the border a crack at all the clips they've been missing, plans to sell the compilation on its upcoming U.S. tour, which kicks off on October 29. Canadian fans will have to wait until November 23 to get their hands on the tape, as that's the currently scheduled street date in the group's homeland.

For "Second Hand Views," the band has compiled eleven videos dating from 1992 to 1998, starting off with "Underwhelmed" and winding up with "She Says What She Means." Included in those clips is the original video for the "Underwhelmed" indie single as well as an alternate version of "People Of The Sky" which resembles the video for "Coax Me."

The tape also collects two commercials broadcast on Canadian television to advertise the band's

two-CD live set, "4 Nights At The Palais Royale." The foursome's video for its current single, "Losing California," is not included, unfortunately.

Sloan has been known for making some obscure pop-culture nods in its clips; the extended intro to "The Good In Everyone" [RealVideo] is a near shot-by-shot recreation of a scene from the movie "Easy Rider," and the video for "She Says What She Means" is based on "Privilege," a 1967 British film in which a pop star is used by the government to manipulate teenage minds.

For those who can't make it to the band's shows, the group will also be offering "Second Hand Views" for sale in America through its label Web site, For those who want to check out the action, here's where to go:
