Silverchair Collaborates With "Shine" Pianist

Australian rockers Silverchair are currently cutting the follow-up to their 1997 album, "Freak Show," and have tapped a fellow Aussie to help out on a special track on the new record.

Silverchair, who are working with along Semisonic and Girls Against Boys producer Nick Launay on the album, asked classical pianist David Helfgott, the man who inspired the 1997 Oscar-nominated movie "Shine," to provide a "manic kind of piano part" for a song entitled "Emotion Sickness."

The group has also revamped its collaboration with Vitro for last year's "Spawn" soundtrack, translating the song from a techno-punk fusion into a more straightforward rocker, rechristening the song "Spawn Again."

The as-yet-untitled album is tentatively slated to be released on March 2, 1999, and Silverchair plans to launch a headlining tour of the U.S. in either late spring or early summer.
