Adam Sandler’s “Lonesome Kicker” Gets Help From Steelers

October 1 [12:00 EDT] — Professional schizophrenic Adam Sandler has placed his film and stand-up personas on the back burner once again in favor of his oddball attempts at musicianship.

Lately, Sandler’s been seen hamming it up in the video for his epic ballad, “Lonesome Kicker.” [600k QuickTime] The “SNL” alum took to the field of Pittsburgh’s Three Rivers Stadium for the shoot, and recruited the help of real life Steelers like Kordell Stewart, Greg Lloyd, and Jerome Bettis to tell the tale of Andre Kristacovitchlalinski, Jr., the low man on the NFL totem pole.

“We wanted to be in Pittsburgh because, I went to the game last night and the fans were extra, extra enthusiastic about the team,” Sandler said of his decision to film the clip in the football-frenzied atmosphere of western Pennsylvania.

“It means a lot to Pittsburgh for the team to do well, and thought that’s the funniest…
the most pressure on the kicker.” [600k QuickTime]

Sandler joked that the shoot itself, and working with Stewart, Bettis, and Lloyd presented a different kind of pressure.

“I’m excited. All the fellas that are doing to video I’m very excited (about),” Sandler said of his co-stars. “Greg Lloyd… I don’t want to fight him. I just want to shoot the video. I just want to shoot the video and get out of here without getting hurt. I don’t want to say anything that makes him want to hit me in the face or hit me in the chest. I could take one in the gut because I been eating a lot.”

Sandler, his gut, and the Lonesome Kicker will all be hitting the road for a tour of U.S. colleges beginning this Friday in Orlando, Florida.
