Salt-N-Pepa To Tour For First Time In Four Years

It’s been almost a year and a half since Salt-N-Pepa released its last album, “Brand New,” and four years since the hip-hop trio last toured — but the road is apparently beckoning the group once again, this time for a “Greatest Hits” outing.

Salt-N-Pepa will kick-off a planned 40-city tour next week in Indianapolis, and is scheduled to continue through the end of April. Lucas Prata and the Lyte Funky Ones have been tapped to serve as the opening acts.

Although Cheryl “Salt” James, Sandi “Pepa” Denton and Dee Dee “Spindarella” Roper didn’t tour in support of “Brand New,” the members of the trio have spent the interim time on their various solo projects and familial commitments.

Pepa gave birth to her second child in July, Spindarella has started work on a solo record, and Salt has been co-directing a stage production, “Rapp’s City,” that was written by Christopher “Play” Martin, himself formerly of Kid-N-Play.
