Renowned video director Mark Romanek, who last year received an MTV Video Vanguard award for his body of work, is scheduled to give a lecture Monday night about the music video medium and its message at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.
Romanek has directed videos for such artists as Madonna, Beck, Janet Jackson, and Nine Inch Nails, and recently helmed the clip for Lenny Kravitz's new single, "If You Can't Say No." [550k QuickTime]
The director will be speaking as part of the museum's series on art and design, entitled "Commodity and Delight." Other speakers slated for the series include one-time Sex Pistols manager Malcolm McLaren, and an executive from the Gap, whose recent "Fall into the Gap" campaign has featured spots by such artists as L.L. Cool J, Aerosmith and Luscious Jackson.
