Rolling Stones Announce New Dates

The Rolling Stones have announced the dates for another North American road trip, their first arena tour in two decades. The latest jaunt will kick off January 25 in Oakland, California, although the popular rumor is that the band will play at least one club date unannounced in San Francisco as a warm-up sometime prior to that concert.

The tour, in support of their just released "No Security" live album, will see a redesigned open stage with sitelines spanning 360 degrees, courtesy of the same team that designed the previous Voodoo Lounge and Bridges to Babylon sets. The tour is being presented by the Tommy Hilfiger fashion house. Opening acts confirmed to date include The Corrs, the Goo Goo Dolls and Jonny Lang. Sheryl Crow will be supporting the band for their U.K. trek.

A spokesperson for the promoter says the tour was inspired by the success of the odd, smaller venue like New York's Madison Square Garden performed during the previous stadium tour, and by the fact

that the band was forced to reschedule their U.K. dates until next June for tax and other reasons (see [article id="1433734"]"Rolling Stones Cancel British Tour"[/article]).

The spokesperson confirmed that the tickets will average $75 each. For example, the show in Sacramento sees prices ranging from $40 to $151. Previous reports in the media that said tickets would cost upwards of $300 have only elements of truth -- the Hartford, Connecticut, concert in question is offering a special advance package for $125 to $250, as well as a special party ticket with food and an open bar for $300.
