After weeks of speculation and rumor, Radiohead finally has confirmed plans for a New York City concert as part of a brief, three-city outing in support of its just-released fourth album, "Kid A."
In addition to the New York date, scheduled for October 11 at the Roseland Ballroom, Radiohead also will be in the city to perform on NBC's "Saturday Night Live" on October 14.
After those two gigs, the band will then take the mini-tour to Toronto's Air Canada Centre on October 17, followed by a show at the Greek Theater in Los Angeles on October 20 (see "Radiohead Firms Up Dates In Toronto, L.A.").
If you haven't been lucky enough to score tickets to one of the shows, don't fret, as MTV.com and MTV2 have teamed up for a Radiohead contest in which one person will win six front-row tickets to the L.A. concert. For more information on the contest, be sure to check out Radiohead's
In related news, Radiohead fans have been snapping up copies of "Kid A" at a frenetic pace, with the band's American label, Capitol Records, estimating that the new album sold some 75,000 copies alone during its first day in stores.
While most have been focusing on the heady music of "Kid A," a few fans have stumbled across a "hidden" booklet that has been packaged in the regular edition, lodged underneath the black backing tray of the new CD's jewel case.
The hidden booklet is as oblique as the new album itself and features portions of lyrics from several "Kid A" songs, including "In Limbo," as well as other tracks, such as "Knives Out," that were recorded during the sessions.
