Mark Eitzel And Peter Buck To Unveil New Material

April 18 [16:00 EST] -- Fans will soon be able to check out the collaboration between former American Music Club frontman Mark Eitzel and R.E.M. guitarist Pete Buck.

Eitzel, long considered a mesmerizing songwriter in his own right, teamed with Buck to write material for Eitzel's second solo album, "West," which arrives in stores on May 6. The album also features performances by Scott McCaughey (The Young Fresh Fellows, and occasionally of R.E.M.), Barrett Martin (Screaming Trees), Steve Berlin (Los Lobos), and Mike McCready (Pearl Jam).

Throughout his career (both as a solo artist and as the leader of American Music Club) Eitzel has drawn critical praise, with pundits calling him "casually devastating" and saying that his work "conjures up visions of Hank Williams channeled through Leonard Cohen."

The singer/songwriter will be taking his new material on the road, and will once again enlist the help of Buck on tour. Here's where Eitzel will be:
