Elvis has never let a little thing like death get in the way of career advancement.
Presley’s enduring legacy may grow even broader as Reuters reports that a play is in the works that would bring Elvis’ songs to Broadway. Playwright Joe DiPietro (”Over the River and Through the Woods,” “I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change”) is reportedly working on a musical that would incorporate a number of the king’s best known hits.
The playwright tells Reuters that the play would not actually be about Presley, but rather would follow the model of “Mama Mia!” which uses the songs of ABBA to weave together different stories.
There’s no word yet on what Elvis songs would be used, or when the play might get off the ground.
