Porno For Pyros In Cahoots With Howard Stern

MTV NEWS: In only slightly less devilish news, Perry Farrell's band "Porno For Pyros" is now in cahoots with talk-show god and best-selling author Howard Stern.

The group, augmented by Red Hot Chili Peppers' Dave Navarro and Flea, has contributed a song called "Hardcharger" to the soundtrack of the upcoming "Private Parts," the film version of Stern's autobiography, and the tune is being released as a single, and Farrell and company, have lately been huddled with the "King Of All Media" making a video for it. Let's find out how they've been getting along.

PETER DISTEFANO: He likes us... And he's funny... So, we figured, if we're going to do anything, you know, commercial... Why not do it with Howard Stern?

MTV: It makes sense. The "King of All Media" makes his first foray into the world of music videos with "Hardcharger," the first release from the Private Parts soundtrack featuring Porno For Pyros with Flea and Dave Navarro of the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

DAVE NAVARRO: I'm actually a big fan of Howard Stern.

PERRY FARRELL: I definitely think he's a very interesting fella.

FLEA: I don't care about Howard Stern at all. He means nothing to me.

FARRELL: He likes himself, a lot!

FLEA: I'm just doing this because I like Perry, and Stephen, and Peter, and Dave and we made this song, and the song is cool, and, I'm in it for the music.

FLEA: I've always been a huge fan of Perry's. I think he's probably the greatest singer in rock and roll.

MTV: But besides having a great set of pipes, Farrell can also cut quite a rug, as Stern learned first hand.

DISTEFANO: He kept asking Perry, um, will you teach me how to dance? So Perry was like, ya know, what you got to do is go like this

FARRELL: And just before the shot was supposed to start, he says (mocking Stern's voice) "Hey,

hey Perry! What do I do with my hands?" So I said, "If you're really brave, you put 'em over your head, Howard." And Howard started, ya know, he wasn't, ya know, I give him a 9.

MTV: With 3 of the 4 members of the now defunct band Jane's Addiction contributing to "Hardcharger," some hoped the project would be a precursor to a reunion of the group.

NAVARRO: That's something I would totally do, at the drop of a hat. However, I think that their agendas and our agendas conflict at this time, and, you know, it's nowhere in the near future.

MTV: It was allegedly because of that hype and speculation, coupled with a purported desire to focus on new material that a planned Porno For Pyros benefit with Flea and Navarro was allegedly canceled, along with the entire tour.

FARRELL: You know why we didn't go out? Because I didn't want to go out there and bullsh** them into thinking I'm having a good time.

When I have something that I'm inspired to do, I can't wait for y'all to come and fill up the room.

STEPHEN PERKINS: Going on tour, it's a lot of fun, but, day after day you don't get to create too much. You almost have to recreate the same songs over and over. And sometimes, you know, that can put out the fire.

MTV NEWS: Both the "Hardcharger" single and the "Private Parts" soundtrack will be out next month. "Private Parts: The Movie," which reportedly got a standing ovation at one recent test screening, will open on March 7th.
