Papa Vegas Drops "Bombshell," Lands Verve Pipe Tour

Papa Vegas is currently scoring a direct hit on alternative radio with its new single, "Bombshell," thanks in large part to the track's multi-layered guitars and equally lush harmonies.

The song is taken from the Vegas' just-released debut, "Hello Vertigo," which the band recorded in Los Angeles with producer Don Gilmore, the man also behind Lit's new album, "A Place in the Sun."

Prior to the start of the "Vertigo" sessions, Papa Vegas spent time in London working up new material, but "Bombshell" has actually been in the band's repertoire for quite some time.

During a recent interview with MTV, vocalist and guitarist Joel Ferguson recalled that unlike some of the more laboriously crafted songs on the debut record, coming up with "Bombshell" was pretty much a painless experience.

"It's three and a half years old now," Ferguson explained, "but 'Bombshell' was the quickest written of

all these

songs, which is always kind of one of those weird things. It was a 10-minute job done sitting on the bed after coming home from work. It just kind of fell out."

"It's strange like that how that works," he laughed, "because there's been songs that I can think of where I've spent weeks and weeks on it and I thought that I had this amazing thing and [then the band] will try it, and it's in the trash can now." [RealAudio]

Papa Vegas has just finished a month-long road stint with Kent and has landed the opening gig on the Verve Pipe's upcoming club tour, which is scheduled to kick off in mid-May.
