Pantera Lands Porn Stars For In-Stores

Leave it to the men of Pantera to turn a simple promotional appearance into something far more debauched.

On Wednesday, the self-proclaimed “kings of modern metal” headed to Tower Records in Nashville to team up with some of Vivid Video’s most notable porn stars for the first in a series of in-store appearances.

“Obviously we’re big porno stars as well as fans of that kind of stuff,” Pantera drummer Vinnie Paul joked before the band took the stage at the launch of Ozzfest 2000 last weekend. “We though it would be kind of cool to invite some of the girls to come out and sign some autographs with us. Since a large portion of our audience is male, we thought we’d give them something to look at too, so you get your autograph from the band and you get to meet some of the girls that are in your favorite porno flicks.” [RealAudio]

Vinnie and his Pantera-mates will
be signing copies of their recently released “Reinventing The Steel,” while Kira Kener (star of “Nurses,” “House Sitter,” and “The Bet”) and other actresses from the Vivid stable will sign DVD copies of their films. Pantera and the ladies of Vivid Video will hit Cleveland’s Records Exchange on July 19, Boston’s Tower Records on July 28, Indianapolis’ Karma Records on August 9, and Phoenix’s Zia Records on August 29. The band also plans to line up an in-store on its home turf of Dallas, Texas on either August 22 or 23.

Of course, the band is going through more conventional means to support “Reinventing The Steel” with a co-headlining slot on Ozzfest 2000. The trek marks the band’s first bit of U.S. touring behind the album since it hit stores three months ago (see “Ozzfest Celebrates Life On Top At Tour Launch” ).
