Static-X Plans London Video Shoot, Talks Ozzfest

The plan was for Static-X's first video to be an animated creep-out for the track "Push It. [RealAudio]"

However, a funny thing happened at radio.

The L.A.-based group (which has been drawing favorable comparisons to Ministry and White Zombie) has a minor hit on its hands with a different song. Rock radio programmers have picked up on "Bled For Days," another track from the band's debut album, "Wisconsin Death Trip," in a big way. According to the industry publication "R&R," the track was the second most added song on Active Rock radio stations, prompting the band's record label (Warner Bros.) to get cracking on a video for that track.

The band will roll the cameras during its concert next Wednesday in London and will put together a performance-heavy clip for "Bled For Days" in the weeks that follow.

Static-X has already shot a video for "Push It" with director Mick Olszewski, who honed his craft as an animator

on videos for Tool (see "Static-X Waving Disco Death Metal Flag With Video, Ozzfest Dates"). That clip won't surface until after "Bled For Days" runs its course at radio.

Videos aside, the band will get the chance to greatly increase its fan base with a run on this summer's Ozzfest, which gets rolling on May 27 in West Palm Beach, Florida. The chance to tour with Rob Zombie, Slayer, and the reunited Black Sabbath doesn't come along every day, and the invitation to do so elicited a rather enthusiastic response from the band.

"We pooped our pants," drummer Ken Jay joked to MTV News.

"It was something we had hoped for right from the start when we first had any kind of clue that we were going to be signed," frontman Wayne Static said. "I actually didn't really believe it until I saw it on paper,

and I still won't actually 100 percent believe it until we're on stage playing probably. [RealVideo]"

"You gotta give props to Ozzy as the creator of all evil faces," Static said of one of the more overlooked aspects of Osbourne's legacy. "What would we do in photo sessions if it were not for Ozzy?"
