P.O.D. Eyes Ozzfest After Sevendust Tour

Things just keep getting better and better for P.O.D.

With the band's debut album, "The Fundamental Elements Of Southtown," climbing the charts and its tour with Sevendust underway, the San Diego-based rock outfit now says it has added Ozzfest 2000 to its slate.

In a press release issued this week, the band announced that it would be playing the main stage of Ozzfest this summer. Pantera has also said that it will be on the Ozzfest bill, but Osbourne Management (which handles the tour as well as perennial headliner Ozzy Osbourne) has yet to announce the tour's official lineup.

This week, P.O.D. kicked off a trek with Sevendust and Fu Manchu that will run through the next two weeks.

The road trip comes as the band is posting impressive sales numbers for "The Fundamental Elements Of Southtown," courtesy of the album's first single and video, "Southtown." As the band finds a wider audience, it also finds itself fighting the "Christian rock" tag.

The group

delivers a subtle, spiritual outlook in its lyrics, but as frontman Sonny Sandoval explained to MTV News recently, [article id="1449116"]"We play music, we play rock and roll, and it seems like it's always... because of our beliefs that we are Christians, and we are Christians all the way, we're not denying that. Everybody labels it 'Christian rock.' But you don't see them saying that the Beastie Boys is 'Buddhist rap.'" [RealVideo][/article]
