Sinead O'Connor, who is perhaps as well known for her infamous "Saturday Night Live" appearance as for her hit song "Nothing Compares 2 U," will be making her Atlantic Records debut in 1999.It was officially announced on Tuesday that the Irish singer/songwriter has signed a worldwide, exclusive long-term recording contract with the company, which has been rumored for several weeks. Additionally, her current EP, "Gospel Oak" is scheduled to be reissued a second time by Atlantic. It was previously released on Chrysalis/EMI Records before the label folded and then re-released by Columbia Records in August of 1997. O'Connor -- who recently wrapped up a tour of the U.S., which included several Guinness Fleadh and Lilith Fair performances -- also has a song on the upcoming soundtrack to the Ralph Fiennes/Uma Thurman/Sean Connery film, The Avengers. O'Connor's song on the soundtrack (which also features songs from Sugar Ray, Iggy Pop, Annie Lennox, and the Verve Pipe) is a collaborative
effort with Ashtar Command dubbed, "Summer's End." It will be released on Aug. 4 on Atlantic Records.
