September 23 [7:55 EDT] -- Chris Cornell's first post-Soundgarden project will hit stores on October 7 when his version of "Ave Maria" turns up on a holiday compilation.
Cornell's take on the Catholic hymn, which he performs with members of the band Eleven, will be featured on "A Very Special Christmas 3."
Blues Traveler, The Dave Matthews Band, Sheryl Crow, Mary j. Blige, No Doubt and Patti Smith also contribute tracks to the collection.
The album will also feature an all-star rap from Puffy Combs, Snoop Doggy Dogg and Salt-n-Pepa.
Proceeds from the album will benefit the Special Olympics.
