Mötley Crüe Sued by Ex-Singer

SERENA: And there was more metallic litigation on Tuesday, as John Corabi, who fronted Mötley Crüe for its self-titled 1994 album, sued Crüe for over $1 million. Ironically, he replaced Vince Neil, who sued Crüe for $5 million after his 1992 split, and who is now back with the band. Corabi claims that he was unfairly fired by Crüe last March, after being told last fall that he would be kept on, even though Neil had returned. Corabi also claims that Crüe stopped paying him even before he was fired, and that he deserves more than the two co-writing credits he gets on the new Crüe album, "Generation Swine." No comment yet from Crüe or its label, who, despite all of this, are undoubtedly happy to note that "Generation Swine" entered this week's pop chart at number 4 -- just proving that Crüe still has plenty of loyal fans out there who are still intensely devoted, as we learned when we caught a recent Crüe gig in Boston.

MTV: What is

it that kept you still to this day a fan of Mötley Crüe, so that you didn't stray?

FAN 1: Well, pretty much they are the greatest party band that ever was. And we're looking for a good party. Tonight is the night.

MTV: Did it ever become a time when it was unfashionable to like Mötley Crüe?

FAN 2: Not specifically Mötley Crüe. No. I don't think Mötley Crüe was ever part of the same... you had the Winger, had the Stryper, Warrant, you had that. But then there was Mötley Crüe. Mötley Crüe was always pretty hard-core.

FAN 3: I think a lot of sounds from the 80s are coming back. I mean Dokken's playing now. And Dio is back. I just went to Ozzfest yesterday and there are a lot of good bands coming back with sort of like the eighties sound, mixin' with the eighties and nineties. I think it's really gonna be good for the music.

TOMMY

LEE: Hey guys! Check it out! We've got a little surprise for you up on the balcony.

(GIRL FLASHES THE CAMERA)

NIKKI SIXX: Hey, Senor MTV dude. If you're doing something on the Crüe, you've got to have some t*ts in there.

(VARIOUS GIRLS FLASH THE CROWD) [1.5 MB QuickTime]

FAN 4: I've been listening to you guys for thirteen years, since I was a little kid. I was just wondering if I could come on up and shake each one of your hands...?

LEE: Sure. (THE EXCITED FAN SHAKES THEIR HANDS)

FAN 5: The original Crüe's back together and it is awesome!

FAN 6: That's straight up rock n' roll, baby! Mötley Crüe!!!

SERENA: Mötley Crüe returns to the road this fall.

JOHN: The fall is also when ex-Van Halen singer David Lee Roth is expected to publish his autobiography, "Crazy From The Heat." Roth is also working on a spoken-word album as a companion piece to the book, and he's getting a little advice

on both projects from another mighty mouth, Henry Rollins, who not only won a best spoken-word Grammy a few years ago, but turns out to be a friend of Dave's.
