Alanis Morissette Announces U.S. Tour Dates

Alanis Morissette has announced her first set of tour dates for 1999, supporting her latest album, “Supposed Former Infatuation Junkies.” She’ll be kicking off her road trip in New Orleans January 30. Morissette previously performed on a brief club tour to break in the new material. (see “Alanis Morissette Lines Up Club Tour As Release Date Nears” ).

Liz Phair will be the opening act fir the first eight shows before Garbage takes over for the rest of the announced appearances, which so far extend to early April. International dates are expected to follow.

Morissette’s band consists of longtime members Chris Chaney on bass and Nick Lashley on guitar, along with drummer Gary Novak who first joined her for the 1997 Tibetan benefit replacing Taylor Hawkins. Also on board is new guitarist Joel Shearer (replacing Jesse Tobias), who plays on her new album, and keyboardist Deron Johnson, who was added for her recent club tour.

The
venues for the concerts have yet to be announced, but given Morissette’s previous and current successes, the rooms will be sizable ones.
