Moby Anoints Unsigned Act, Kicks Off Campus Invasion
Bobby Llama, a heretofore-unknown band from Minneapolis, opened for Moby and Fastball Wednesday night in Panama City, Florida after topping some 800 other bands in Sam Goody's Bandemonium.
The Minneapolis outfit joined hundreds of other hopefuls under the Florida sun during spring break this week for a competition that also saw the unsigned bands share the stage with the Jungle Brothers and Marcy Playground.
After coming out on top of fellow finalist Harry Dash, Bobby Llama grabbed gear and other prizes worth more than $20,000. Among the items the winners walked off with were a Gibson SG Standard guitar, an SG-Z bass guitar, amplifiers, a five-piece Slingerland Spitfire drum kit, and studio time at Pachyderm Studios where the band will cut a demo with producer Brent Sigmeth.After doing his part at Bandemonium, Moby remained in Florida where he will hook up with Bush for the Thursday night launch of their Campus Invasion tour.
