Misfits Hit The Ring For WCW

It's unlikely that punk journeymen the Misfits are to take up pro wrestling full time, though bassist Jerry Only and company turned up ringside at last night's live broadcast of "WCW Monday Nitro" and actually got in on the action.

Following in the footsteps of Master P and the Insane Clown Posse, the Misfits stopped by Minneapolis' Target Center for "Nitro" and escorted tattooed wrestler Vampiro to the ring for his match against his hated Teutonic nemesis Berlyn. Keeping an eye on the proceedings from ringside, the Misfits eventually stepped in when Berlyn's bodyguard tried to interfere. The Misfits turned out to the be the deciding factor in the match, as they held down the legs of Berlyn, allowing Vampiro to get the pin.

"We're his favorite band, and he's looking to get us involved," the Misfits' Jerry Only told MTV News of Vampiro's involvement. "Then we'll be hitting a hundred million

people, and I can't guarantee what's going to be left of the human race after the Misfits finally invade every orifice that has been had. It's a very unique thing." [RealVideo]

After making their rasslin' debut, the Misfits bolted from the Target Center to Minneapolis' First Avenue for a show that same night. If prefer the Misfits' music-making skills to their wrestling skills, here's where you can catch them on the road in support of their latest effort, "Famous Monsters":
