Bosstones To Visit "Sesame Street," "Deedles," And ESPN Before U.S. Tour

After doing a stint down under on the Australian leg of the Vans Warped tour, the Mighty Mighty Bosstones are planning to up their Stateside visibility in the coming weeks.

First, the band will turn in a performance for ESPN's Espy Awards show on Monday, February 9 joining a list of performers that includes Johnny Lang and Grandmaster Flash.

Boston's favorite ska export will then be seen marking the 30th anniversary of "Sesame Street" on an ABC special titled "Elmopalooza" that is set to air on February 20. For the special (which also features appearances by Shawn Colvin, the Fugees, Chris Rock, Jon Stewart, and others), the Bosstones will offer a performance of "The Zig Zag Dance" which features frontman Dicky Barrett dueting with "Sesame Street"'s numerically fixated vampire, the Count. The track will also turn up on the "Elmopalooza" soundtrack, which arrives on March 3, and the "Elmopalooza" home video, which arrives on April 14.

In projects aimed at a somewhat

older audience (but perhaps not by much), the band will offer its previously unreleased track "Wrong Thing, Right Then" for the soundtrack to the upcoming Disney film "Meet The Deedles." The film will star Dennis Hopper ("Easy Rider," "True Romance," "Speed") and Anna Gasteyer ("Saturday Night Live"), and will also feature songs from Weezer, Goldfinger, and Hepcat. The soundtrack is scheduled to hit stores on March 17.

Finally, with those projects out of the way, the band is scheduled to kick off a headlining run through North America and Canada on March 1 with a date at New York City's Roseland Ballroom. Along the way, the band will headline the second annual Crankin' and Skankin' Mass Fest at Mansfield, Massachusetts' Great Woods Amphitheater on May 17.
