Metallica Brings Thin Lizzy Guitarist Onstage In Dublin

Metallica is currently on tour in Europe, where the band is scheduled to play seven more dates before finishing up its pre-Woodstock jaunt with a concert in Tel Aviv, Israel on July 20.

When the band performed in Dublin, Ireland earlier this week, Metallica was joined onstage by original Thin Lizzy guitarist Eric Bell for a run through of Lizzy's classic "Whiskey in the Jar," a song Metallica covered for its recent "Garage Inc." collection.

Thin Lizzy was formed in Dublin back in 1970 and recorded "Whiskey in the Jar," which is based on a traditional Irish melody, for its third LP, "Vagabonds of the Western World." Bell left Thin Lizzy back in 1974, citing exhaustion.

For the July 5 show in Dublin, Metallica moved the song from its normal mid-set position to the next to last number of the night. After "Whiskey in the Jar," the band closed the evening with "Battery," a cut from its 1986 LP "Master of Puppets."

Metallica next plays the Milton Keynes Bowl in Milton Keynes,

England on July 10, and are currently slated to play day two of the Woodstock '99 Music Festival, being held in Rome, New York from July 23-25.
