Megadeth's Dave Mustaine Survives Foul Play

Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine got hit by a baseball by one of his fans at an Arizona Diamondbacks game on Saturday.

Rookie outfielder David Dellucci, who has never met the singer but listens to the song "Symphony of Destruction" before each home at-bat, tossed a foul ball to Mustaine, a resident of Phoenix who was sitting behind the Diamondback's dugout when he wasn't ready. The ball knocked over Mustaine's drink, spilling it on him, and his glasses fell off.

Mustaine, being the good sport, says of the incident, "It was exciting to hear that he chose Megadeth for his at-bat music and it was great to see him play. He didn't blow his opportunity to meet me, though an autographed Mark McGwire ball would definitely secure his chances. Hopefully we will get some time to do something in the off-season."

Hopefully Dellucci will have better luck next time, or at least a signed ball from McGwire, the first-basemen of the St. Louis Cardinals and one of the season's home-run kings.

Mustaine and his group, Megadeth, will be playing a couple of dates in Mexico in mid-September, before starting a tour in South America at the end of the month.
