December 9 [14:30 EDT] -- Marilyn Manson and sidekick Twiggy Ramirez joined the Smashing Pumpkins for two songs in Miami Friday night.
The Pumpkins were opening for the Rolling Stones. Manson had previously guested with the Billy Corgan and crew at the quasi-acoustic Bridge School Benefit in California in October.
Third Eye Blind had opened the Orange Bowl show followed by the Dave Matthews Band. Web reports say by the time the Pumpkins took center stage, there were still surprisingly few people in their seats. The 50,000-odd fans didn't fill the venue until minutes before the Stones' made their appearance. The reactions to both the Pumpkins and Manson's guest appearance were luke warm with one newsgroup report noting that the most enthusiastic response was courtesy of kids brought by their Stones fan parents.
The Tampa Tribune review called the Pumpkins "in fine form" and added that a new song debuted by the band, "Eva Adore," "should squash worries that lead
Pumpkin Billy Corgan is moving entirely into electronic and atmospheric sounds."
The Miami show was the last appearance for drummer Matt Walker.
