You couldn't throw a snowball at Thursday night's MTV Video Music Awards without finding another star eagerly awaiting the arrival of everyone's favorite anti-Christ-gone-glam, Marilyn Manson.
"I'm a huge fan of Marilyn Manson," Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl told MTV News' Serena Altschul when asked who he was looking forward to seeing at the VMAs. Grohl was not alone as everyone from Green Day to Garbage admitted that Manson was the man to see at Thursday night's awards show.
[article id="1447662"]"I think they're really entertaining,"[/article] said former Stray Cat and current swing king Brian Setzer said of Manson. [article id="1447662"]"It's great. It's what America wants... entertainment."[/article]
"I wanna see what Marilyn Manson's gonna do this year because last year they totally stole the show as far as I was concerned," Green Day frontman Billie Joe said of Manson's VMA gig.
The man of the hour did not disappoint with his performance, which suggested Ziggy Stardust in the midst of a four-week run at Caesar's Palace in Vegas. Surrounded by sequined back-up singers, clad in platform heels, and awash in lights spelling out "The Dope Show", Manson cranked out the first single from his "Mechanical Animals" album, and showed a glammed-up version of the same rock star swagger he flashed at last year's show. He also, for the second straight year, showed VMA viewers his ass, showing that he knows showbiz rule #1: give the audience what they want.
Catch all the sizzlin', star-packed VMA action direct from Miami on August 28. MTV News' preshow kicks things off at 6:30 p.m. ET/PT, followed by big show at 8 p.m.
