Manson Covers "Suicide Is Painless" For "Blair Witch 2"

Marilyn Manson has recorded a cover of Johnny Mandel's "Suicide Is Painless," a tune best remembered as the theme to the 1970 Robert Altman film "M.A.S.H." and its subsequent spin-off TV series, for the upcoming soundtrack to "Book Of Shadows: Blair Witch 2."

Manson plans to issue the "Blair Witch 2" album via his own label, Posthuman Records, on October 17. In addition to previously released songs from the likes of Rob Zombie, System Of A Down, Queens Of The Stone Age, and U.P.O., the record also will feature a new track, "The Reckoning," from Godhead (see "Manson Signs Godhead To Posthuman").

Godhead is tentatively set to perform for the "Blair Witch" Webfest, a three-day online convention being held from October 18-20 at www.blairwitchwebfest.com, leading up to the October 27 release of "Book Of Shadows." Poe will play the fest as well, while former Jane's Addiction-Porno For Pyros frontman Perry Farrell will host

a hike through the woods and serve up a DJ set.

Visitors to the site during the event can register to win tickets to the opening show of Marilyn Manson's "Guns, God, And Government World Tour," slated for October 27 in Minneapolis, as well as a private screening of "Book Of Shadows: Blair Witch 2" with Manson.

Aside from overseeing the "Blair Witch 2" soundtrack, Manson has completed work on his new LP, "Holy Wood (In The Shadow Of The Valley Of Death)," due out on November 14.
