Marcy Playground Revisits “Citizen Kane” Setting For New Video

Marcy Playground, who scored the alternative song of the year in 1998 with “Sex and Candy,” will revisit the scene — or scenery, at least — of one of the most famous films of all time to shoot the video for its new single, “Comin’ Up from Behind.”

The band plans to shoot the video over the next few days at the 443-acre Ohica Castle in Huntington, New York. Orson Welles used exterior shots of the castle, one of the largest private homes in the U.S., for his 1941 masterpiece, “Citizen Kane,” and Marcy Playground plans to incorporate several of the estate’s settings, including an 80-foot indoor pool, into the clip.

“Comin’ Up from Behind” was written by Sherry Fraser, a close friend of the band who lent her name to the group’s last single (see “Marcy Playground’s ‘Sherry Fraser’ Surfaces” ), and was recorded by Marcy Playground last fall.

The band has contributed the song to the soundtrack of the upcoming film, “Cruel Intentions,”
a modern day, teenage retelling of “Dangerous Liaisons,” starring Sarah Michelle Gellar, Ryan Phillippe and Reese Witherspoon.

“Cruel Intentions” is due to arrive on screens nationwide on March 4, while the soundtrack will be released the following week.
