Madonna May Sign On With "Scream" Director

May 9 [7:55 EST] -- In movie news, Madonna is said to be discussing a new film role as an inner city violin teacher in "Fiddlefest," with director Wes Craven.

Craven, best known for horror gems like "Nightmare on Elm Street" and "Scream," will take on significantly less gory subject matter in "Fiddlefest." The film is based on the Oscar nominated documentary "Small Wonders," which tells that story of Roberta Tavarez, who teaches classical violin to grade schoolers in East Harlem, New York.

Craven will shoot "Scream 2" before he starts work on "Fiddlefest," with or without Madonna.
