August 1 [14:00 EDT] -- In a rather formidable business pairing, filmmaker Quentin Tarantino has teamed with Madonna to form his record label.
According to Reuters news service, Tarantino and his film cohort Lawrence Bender have formed A Band Apart Records, which will be distributed and marketed through Madonna's Maverick Records.
The label will reportedly launch with the soundtrack to Tarantino's next film project, "Jackie Brown," which is due to arrive around Christmas. The first release from A Band Apart will set the tone for the label, as it will reportedly specialize in soundtrack releases.
The union between Tarantino and Madonna is especially ironic given the opening scene from "Reservoir Dogs" in which Tarantino explains a rather colorful interpretation of the lyrics to Madonna's "Like A Virgin."
