Madonna has decided not to tour in support of her latest album, "Ray of Light," until the spring of next year.
The one-time Material Girl told MTV News last week that the delay was due to possible scheduling conflicts with the several films she is already committed for.
As we previously reported (see "Madonna Stages Surprise Club Gig"), Madonna last graced the stage for a club performance shortly before the release of "Ray of Light," and her four-song set was considered to be a stepping stone towards a full-scale tour later this year -- her first since 1990.
"I wish I was two people," Madonna said in explaining her decision to MTV News. "The stage is waiting for me."
Many thought that Madonna would return to the road because of the success of "Ray of Light," which looks to become her biggest seller of the '90s. The album debuted at number two on the "Billboard" chart and registered the biggest first-week sales
of any female artist since the SoundScan monitoring system was adopted seven years ago.
