The unauthorized hits just keep coming from the late Tupac Shakur.
Coming on the heels of the "Makavelli 2" bootleg we reported on in February (see "Tupac Bootleg Hits Stores"), another Tupac bootleg has hit the streets and has been spotted in stores in Los Angeles and New York.
The bootleg, called "Makavelli 3, Thugs Don't Die," carries 13 more of the 200 or so tracks left behind after Tupac's murder in 1996. The album also features a remix of "When We Ride."
Neither Death Row nor Tupac's mother, Afeni Shakur (who has released some of his tracks on her own Amaru Records), has any comment on the origin of the "Makavelli 3" tracks.
Afeni and Amaru Records are planning a more legitimate Tupac tribute album with various artists covering songs by the late rapper. Spokespeople for the label would not comment on their wish list for the project, but a source close to the project says invitations to cover Tupac have
gone out to Madonna among others.
Amaru hopes to release the record on September 13, the two year anniversary of Tupac's death.
