Madonna Confirms World Tour

On the very day that she scored six Grammy nominations, Madonna confirmed that she will be hitting the road this year for what will be her first tour in almost six years.

Speaking via telephone with MTV News' John Norris during Tuesday's edition of "Total Request Live," Madonna talked about the tour.

"I'm going on tour this year," Madonna told MTV News. "This is definite. I'll be on the road in the fall. I'll be rehearsing all summer and then going on the road in September." [RealAudio]

The outing will be the Material Girl's first go-round since 1993's "Girlie Show" tour for which she played only five U.S. shoes.

The news comes on the very day that Madonna saw any past Grammy problems melt away amid six nominations, including nods for Record of the Year and Album of the Year. Previous to Tuesday's Grammy announcement, Madonna's Grammy love consisted of only one

award for Best Long Form Video.

Madonna also told MTV News on Tuesday that she plans to perform at this year's Grammy Awards, which is set for February 24.
