Ricky Martin Says Madonna Duet Near Completion

Madonna and Latin-pop sensation Ricky Martin are currently getting in some quality studio time in Los Angeles recording a duet for Martin's upcoming self-titled album.

The collaboration, which was spawned after the pair met backstage at the Grammy Awards last month, is being produced by electronic guru William Orbit (the man at the board for Madonna's "Ray Of Light" album).

"We're still working on it," Martin told MTV News' Chris Connelly at last weekend's "Vanity Fair" post-Oscar party. "Hopefully we'll be done this week."

Martin added, "We have it already. We're just working on voices now, on harmonies and melody." Connelly, however, could not squeeze a song title out of the singer. Martin's first English-language album is due out on May 25, however the video for his song, "Livin' La Vida Loca,"

made its debut on Total Request Live on Thursday. The former Menudo member is also expected to tour North America this fall.

You can catch more from Martin (as well as his fellow re-born teen idols Joey McIntyre, Jordan Knight, and Robbie Williams) on this week's edition of "MTV News 1515" as well as in an MTV News Online feature that will turn up here on Friday.
