Madonna To Star In "Quadrille"

Madonna's film resume is about to get even longer.

The singer has just wrapped up shooting on "The Next Big Thing" with Rupert Everett, and, according to "Variety," she has just signed on to star in "Quadrille," an adaptation of the Noel Coward play.

The film, to be directed by Gavin Miller ("Dreamchild"), deals with a philandering English aristocrat who leaves his wife and elopes to the south of France with the young wife of an American industrialist. The aristocrat's wife, played by Madonna, teams up with the industrialist in order to find their spouses and avoid scandal. Along the way, of course, they develop a relationship of their own. The film is scheduled to shoot early next year in London and France.

If you're looking forward to hearing new Madonna music instead of seeing her on-screen, you'll be glad to know that she is contributing a song to the soundtrack of "The Next Big Thing" (see "Madonna Re-Teams With Orbit

For New Track"). And for the best of both worlds, be on the lookout for "Madonna: The Video Collection '93-'99," due in stores on November 2.
