Madonna Kicking In Songs For "Next Best Thing"

In addition to scoring major screen time in the upcoming "The Next Best Thing," Madonna will also kick in one or two new tracks for the film's soundtrack.

Madonna stars in the John Schlesinger film opposite Rupert Everett ("My Best Friend's Wedding," "An Ideal Husband") and Benjamin Bratt ("Clear And Present Danger," the "Law & Order" tele-movie "Exiled"), and will also have one or two new William Orbit co-produced songs on the soundtrack (see "Madonna Re-Teams With Orbit For New Track").

Madonna's Maverick Records, which will release the disc, said that a tracklisting has not been finalized yet. However, a source close to the project told MTV News that Madonna has recorded a cover of Don McLean's "American Pie" for the soundtrack.

The "Next Best Thing" album will hit stores on February 29, while the film arrives in theaters on March 10.
