Madonna, Guy Ritchie Attend Gallery Reopening

Madonna and her boyfriend, British director Guy Ritchie, were out and about in London on Thursday night, as the couple made their first public appearance together since announcing that Madonna was pregnant with her second child, the couple's first.

The couple attended a special rededication ceremony for the Tate Gallery, the museum which has held the English national art collection for the last 100 years and which has been subsequently been renamed the Tate Britain.

The Tate will now split its collection between two museums, as the Tate Britain will house its collection of British art dating from the sixteenth century to the present day, while a new museum, the Tate Modern, will exhibit the country's international modern art collection.

The British Press Association reports that Madonna and Ritchie posed for pictures at the entrance to the Tate Britain and spent about an hour at the gallery, although they chose to opt out of attending the champagne reception

held afterwards.

Earlier this week, Madonna and Ritchie confirmed that they were expecting their first child to be born around the end of this year (see "Madonna Expecting Second Child"), which would seem to nix plans for Madonna to tour around the release of her new album, tentatively due out in September.
