Madonna’s manager, Caresse Henry, has just announced that the performer’s new album, titled “Music,” will be released on the 19th of September — the same month when Madonna is scheduled to give birth to her second child.
The new record, Madonna’s eighth studio effort, was co-produced by Madonna and Mirwais, the French-Afghani club artist, and also features production work by William Orbit, who worked on the “Ray Of Light” LP as well as her 1999 hit single, “Beautiful Stranger.”
Mark “Spike” Stent, who produced Oasis’ “Standing On The Shoulder Of Giants” album as well as Beth Orton’s “Central Reservation” LP, also contributed to Madonna’s “Music,” as has Guy Sigsworth. Groove Armada, Hex Hector, and Victor Calderone will provide dance mixes for several of the new album’s singles.
The video for the title track, directed by Jonas Akerlund, is already in the can, and follows the adventures of Madonna, actress Debi Mazar, and one of Madonna’s backing
vocalists, Nikki Harris, during a wild night on the town with British comic Ali G.
Akerlund also shot the video for Madonna’s “Ray Of Light,” a clip that was named Best Video Of The Year at MTV’s 1998 Video Music Awards. The single and video for “Music” will arrive in early August.
Madonna is currently thought to be seven months pregnant, and is expecting the birth of her second child — her first with current boyfriend, British director Guy Ritchie — in September (see “Madonna Expecting Second Child” ).
