M.O.P., Rah Digga and Rampage from Flipmode Squad, DJ Pete Rock, and the Rock Steady Crew are among the artists and performers coming out for the inaugural Summer Skool Professional Skateboard Rooftop Jam in New York City this weekend.
Sponsored by "The Fridge" magazine, Summer Skool will celebrate various aspects of urban culture and will include skateboarding exhibitions as well as several rap, DJ, and break-dancing performances.
Rah Digga and Rampage will host the all-day event, which will be staged at Speeed Nightclub in Manhattan on Saturday, August 12. M.O.P. will headline the Summer Skool concert, which will also feature sets from Zion I and Jimmy Grand.
In addition to Pete Rock, other DJs tapped to spin at Summer Skool include Marley Marl, Cipha Sounds, Green Lantern, and Kaori. Renowned B-boy outfit Crazy Legs and the Rock Steady Crew will also perform for the urban fest.
Late last month, rappers Dead Prez, Cam'ron, Gang Starr, M.O.P.,
and Dilated Peoples paid tribute to Rock Steady as part of the seminal breakdancers' 23rd birthday celebration during a weekend of performances at New York City's Pier 54 facility.
