Limp Bizkit Kicks Off Free Tour Without A Hitch

Limp Bizkit kicked off its Napster-sponsored free tour without incident Tuesday night at Detroit's State Theatre.

Over 4000 fans had lined up as early as midnight Monday with hopes of being among the approximately 2500 fans admitted inside the theater for the show (see "Limp Bizkit Hands Out First Batch Of Free Tickets").

Following opening sets by Detroit's female punk trio Broadzilla and tourmates Cypress Hill, Limp took to the stage and launched into a set that included "Hot Dog Flavored Water," "Show Me What You Got," "Just Like This," "Stuck," and "Counterfeit."

Traditional concert barriers were removed and replaced by a 16-foot-high chain-link fence, enabling fans to come face-to-face with the band. Two eager fans attempted to scale the fence; one made it over.

Durst pulled another fan through the fence to perform Method Man's part in "N 2 Gether Now," which was the first time, according to Durst,

that he's performed the song without the Wu-Tang Clan member.

The band rounded out the set with its recent addition to the "Mission: Impossible 2" soundtrack, "Take A Look Around," as well as "Faith" and "Nookie."

Tuesday night's show was the first in a series of free shows by Limp and Cypress Hill. The tour is scheduled to visit 19 cities, with Limp announcing venues for each stop within 24 to 48 hours before each show (see "Limp Unveils More Cities As Free Tour Launch Looms").
