Ben Lee And Kylie Minogue Team Up For Duran Duran Cover

Having grown up in Australia, twenty-year-old singer/songwriter Ben Lee compares the impact of pop star Kylie Minogue on that country to that of Madonna here in the U.S.

So you can imagine Lee's excitement when the two teamed up in New York last week on a cover of Duran Duran's "The Reflex" for an upcoming Australian tribute album (see "Living End To Record Duran Duran Cover With David Kahne"). MTV News listened in while the pair discussed the first time they ever met.

"I saw you at a party," Minogue suggested.

Lee replied, "No."

"Yeah, that's right," Kylie persisted. "A friend of mine introduced me to Ben--"

"Oh yeah, that's right!" he agreed. "At that party...

yeah, I was at a party where she was there and I was 'Oh my God, that's Kylie... oh my God,' and I was like, I went over into a corner and like talked to [somebody] and was like, 'That's Kylie!'"

Ben continued, "Like it's different, like as an Australian too, like the impact Kylie had on making music.... [She's] just kind of like an icon in Australia, it's really different. So while they were excited, I was, like 'Kylie!'" [RealVideo]
