Apparently Joey McIntyre isn't daunted by the small mob that turned one of his recent in-store appearances into a destructive affair. The former New Kid on the Block will mark the release of his self-titled solo album this week with a couple of high profile appearances in New York. McIntyre will trumpet the Tuesday release of his album with a stop by "Live with Regis and Kathie Lee" that morning. McIntyre will then head to the Virgin Megastore in Times Square to sign copies of the new album from 5 to 7 p.m. A similar meet and greet in Milwaukee earlier this year drew between 1,500 and 1,800 fans, apparently still flush with NKOTB excitement, who wound up knocking a door of its hinges when the crowd proved too much for the entranceway (see "Former New Kid Joey McIntyre Draws Minor Mob In Milwaukee"). Joey and his former New Kid allies are enjoying a bit of a renaissance of late, perhaps thanks to the current wave of boy bands
that are finding success with the formula NKOTB perfected in the 80s. The mini New Kids boom even saw the guys land a video in the "Total Request Live" top ten countdown last week, thanks to a focussed e-mail campaign (see "Chain E-Mail Kicks New Kids Onto "Total Request'").
