R. Kelly was arrested Monday night in his hometown of Chicago on three misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct, and one noise-violation charge, after refusing to turn down music which was blaring from his sports utility vehicle.
A local ordinance prohibits music that can be heard from 75 feet away in public.
Police say Kelly got verbally abusive, and then went limp and dropped to the ground when officers took him into custody.
His vehicle was also impounded, at a cost of $500 plus daily fees.
No comment from Kelly's camp. He now faces a May 7 date in Chicago Municipal Court.
