"I Wish" will be the first single from R. Kelly's upcoming "TP-2.com" album, which is scheduled for release on October 24.
The "I Wish" video, which is said to pay tribute to Kelly's roots with a nod to his mother, is currently being shot with director Christopher Erskin, whose credits include Vitamin C, Dru Hill, Blackstreet, Boyz II Men, and Keith Sweat. The single will be in stores on August 14.
A spokesperson for Kelly's label, Jive Records, told MTV News that the "TP" in the album title refers to the artist's 1993 release, "12 Play," and likened the record, which will include more than twelve tracks, to a "12 Play 2000."
Tour plans for R. Kelly will be decided later this month.
"TP-2.com" will be Kelly's fifth album. His last effort, "R," has been certified six-times platinum.
Kelly can currently be heard on the soundtrack to "The Nutty Professor II: The Klumps" with the song "Just A Touch," in addition to his two tunes
on the "Shaft" soundtrack: "Bad Man" and "Up And Outta Here" (see "R. Kelly Readies 'Shaft' Single, Video").
Meanwhile, Kelly's boy band project, Secret Weapon, should also see a single released in August, with the group's album to follow sometime in the fall. As we previously reported, Kelly wrote and produced that project (see "R. Kelly Readies Secret Weapon").
Kelly is also in the process of producing another new artist, Robert Conner, in Chicago.
