K-Ci & JoJo, Rahzel, Melky Sedeck Down For UNCF Album And Tour

Labelmates K-Ci & JoJo and Rahzel of the Roots are among the artists that have agreed to take part in MCA Records' Summer Heat campaign and tour, aimed at benefiting the United Negro College Fund.

Funds for the campaign will be raised by the brief road outing, as well as a special charity album featuring old and new songs from Mary J. Blige, the Roots with Common, K-Ci & JoJo, Melky Sedeck, Chante Moore, Jesse Powell, and a track from the forthcoming Guy reunion album.

Summer Heat's two week companion tour will feature performances from Rahzel, Avant, IMx, Ametria (in select markets), Youth Edition (in Chicago), and Melky Sedeck (in NYC).

Organizers are still sizing up venues for the Summer Hear tour, but have tentatively mapped out an itinerary that includes stops in Miami, Atlanta, Washington, New York City, Boston, Detroit, Chicago, Minneapolis, Dallas, San Francisco, and Los Angeles.

Look for the Summer Heat compilation CD to arrive in stores on July 27, with the

accompanying tour kicking off a week earlier in Miami on July 19.

Proceeds from the sale of the record and concert tickets will be donated to UNCF, which provides resources and financial aid to minority students across the United States seeking higher education.
