The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion is currently putting the finishing touches on its fifth studio album, which is due out October 20.
According to a source close to the band, frontman and namesake Jon Spencer will finish mastering the new Blues Explosion record this week, which the source describes as more "genre-hopping" than the group's last album, 1996's "No I Got Worry."
The JSBE worked with no fewer than four producers on its new album, including the Automator, veteran Motown ace Andre Williams, the Dust Brothers and the mercurial Steve Albini.
Band frontman Jon Spencer will spend part of the next two weeks sorting through the recorded tracks to pare the album down to its final sequencing. No word on when the Blues Explosion will tour behind the new record, but we'll keep you posted.
