JSBX Pulls Out Of Label's Tenth Anniversary Shows In NYC

The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion has decided to opt out of the New York City concerts commemorating Matador Records' 10th anniversary, scheduled for September 23-25 at Irving Plaza.

According to a spokesperson for Matador, the band has been forced to withdraw from the NYC gigs for some minor, albeit private, medical reasons, and the label was planning on juggling the previously announced lineup (see "Pavement, JSBX, Sleater-Kinney To Help Matador Celebrate Tenth Anniversary") to compensate for the Explosion's absence.

However, label reps did indicate that the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion would still participate in the U.K. celebration of Matador's 10th anniversary, with those shows set for a few weeks earlier at London's Manning Hall.

It wasn't immediately known what band would fill-in for the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion in New York, as the group was originally slated to headline the first night of the three-day event, as the

shows are still more than two months away.
