Jamiroquai Glad "Virtual Insanity" Got Some VMA Attention

July 31 [7:55 EDT] -- How does it feel to lead the pack at this year's MTV Video Music Awards with 10 nominations?

"Nice," according to Jay Kay, singer for the U.K. pop-soul outfit Jamiroquai. The band managed to rake in the nods (including one for "Best Video Of The Year") with its floor-sliding clip for the track "Virtual Insanity."

"It's nice because the video deserves some attention," Jay Kay recently told MTV News. "That effect had never been done before. There was no technology or trickery used, and that's nice to come away with that many, and we're a fairly unknown band here. I think it does us a lot of good."

Jamiroquai will have to wait until September 4, when the MTV Video Music Awards are broadcast live from New York's Radio City Music Hall, to see if they can cash in on any of those nominations.

Catch all the sizzlin', star-packed VMA action direct from Miami on August 28. MTV News' preshow kicks things off at 6:30 p.m. ET/PT, followed by big show at 8 p.m.
