Feb. 13 [18:00 EST] -- Well, it's official... Michael Jackson is the father of a new baby boy.
MTV News confirmed early Thursday afternoon through Elizabeth Taylor's office that Jackson and his wife, Debbie Rowe, became first-time parents of a baby boy at 1:07 AM Thursday, Pacific Time.
Taylor issued a statement Thursday morning saying "I couldn't be more thrilled for them both. They've asked me to be the godmother and I'm totally excited."
Officials at Los Angeles' Cedars-Sinai Medical Center later confirmed that Rowe gave birth to a boy there, but would not release any details such as the baby's height or weight.
"Mr. and Mrs. Jackson have requested that there be no further information other than that the baby was a boy and mother and son are doing fine," a spokesperson told reporters.
The child will reportedly be named Michael Jackson, Jr. Mother and child reportedly left the hospital at 8 a.m. Pacific time on Thursday. Rowe, who is 37, married
Jackson, 38, in Sydney Australia last November 15th. Jackson's previous marriage to Elvis Presley's daughter Lisa Marie ended in divorce less than a year before he wed Rowe.
Jackson is scheduled to appear on a televised birthday tribute to Taylor this Sunday.
