Whitney Houston To Record En Español?

Are you ready to start "Livin' La Vida Whitney?" It could happen, as Ms. Houston has recently shown some interest in breaking the Latin market.

The songstress has been enjoying a refreshing comeback of sorts this year. Her 1998 album, "My Love Is Your Love," is still holding its own on the charts, largely on the strength of its street-smart Top Five singles "Heartbreak Hotel" and "It's Not Right, But It's Okay," and in particular, the club remixes of those songs.

So what will the diva who has rediscovered (and even expanded) her following do for an encore? There is still talk of a greatest-hits album at some point... or just maybe, as Houston told MTV News' John Norris, she will take a page from Ricky Martin's English-language success story and do an album in Spanish.

"I'm ready to hit the Latin market," Houston said. "Hey, you dig what I'm saying? It's like... we always have this thing about,

'Can the R&B artist make the crossover appeal?' Why do we always have to make the crossover? How come nobody ever crossed over into our category? Can they sing R&B?" [RealVideo]

In the meantime, the singer's next single will be the Wyclef Jean-produced title track from "My Love Is Your Love."
